Home health starts with great ventilation

If you have condensation on your windows, mould on your walls and ceiling, or if your home just feels unpleasantly damp, you could well have a ventilation problem. Dampness is a real issue for many New Zealand homes, and our HRV Classic home ventilation system is designed to fight it!

HRV Classic home ventilation reduces moisture in your home by delivering drier, filtered air from your roof space to your living areas. The damp, stale air created by cooking, laundry, showering and even breathing is forced out, filling your home with fresh, drier, filtered, cleaner air.

A ventilation system designed for Kiwi homes

HRV Classic home ventilation combines proven technology and reliability to help make your home drier and healthier.

    HRV Ventilation

HRV Classic is a positive pressure ventilation system. It works by using drier, filtered air from your roof space to force the damp, stale air out of your living areas through gaps in your doors and windows.

In your roof space a compact, quiet, powerful fan draws air through a high-performance filter to reduce allergens like dust, mould spores and pollen from the air your family breathes. From the central fan unit, ducts deliver drier air to outlets in your living areas and bedrooms. And for fingertip control of your system, a central wall-mounted control panel shows you everything you need to know at a glance.

    Optional extras

Depending on what problems dampness is causing you, we might recommend optional extras alongside your HRV home ventilation system.

    Heat Transfer Kit

    Heat Transfer Kit

A Heat Transfer Kit is a great way to get more from your home’s heating system and is available with HRV Classic home ventilation systems. It moves warm air from heated rooms to rooms you might not heat, like bedrooms.

    Summer Kit

    Summer Kit

The Summer Kit helps cool your home in summer by drawing air from under the eaves on the south (shaded) side of your house and delivering it to rooms on the sunny (warmer) side. The Summer Kit is available with HRV Classic home ventilation systems and is included with the HRV AirSense™ Essential+ system.

    FAQs

What do I need to get an HRV home ventilation system?

If your home has an accessible roof cavity, then it should be suitable for HRV home ventilation. Your HRV expert will confirm suitability during your free home assessment visit. Get help to find your ideal HRV system

Can an HRV be used as an air conditioner?

An HRV system cannot be used as an air conditioner. HRV home ventilation and air conditioning are two different things. Ventilation brings fresh, filtered air into your home, while an air conditioner heats or cools it. We often recommend installing both and can advise you on the best combination. See our home air conditioning range here

Can an HRV system cool a house?

An HRV system fitted with a Summer Kit can take advantage of drawing in cooler air from outside if desirable. A typical example during summer, is when the roof cavity air has been heated during the day and remains warmer than the outside air during the evening and early hours of the night.  This is when you can take advantage of venting in the cooler outside air, supporting a better night’s sleep. The Summer Kit is an optional extra with HRV Classic home ventilation that draws cooler air from under the eaves on the south (shaded) side of your house and delivers it to rooms on the sunny (warmer) side of your house. Is an HRV system the same as a heat pump?

An HRV system is not the same as a heat pump. A heat pump uses energy in the ambient air to heat or cool your home and doesn’t bring fresh air in from outside. HRV home ventilation brings a constant flow of fresh, drier, filtered air into your home, which a heat pump can then heat or cool. See our heat pump range

Do I need a dehumidifier if I have an HRV?

One of the key benefits of HRV home ventilation is reducing moisture and dampness in your home. Unlike a dehumidifier, it does this for every room in your home.

Is an HRV system an air purifier?

All HRV home ventilation systems feature advanced filtration to purify the air your family breathes before it enters your home.

How is positive ventilation different from balanced ventilation?

A positive pressure system brings fresh, filtered air from your roof space and uses it to drive out stale, damp air through gaps in your doors and windows.   A balanced pressure system in comparison, pulls stale and moisture-laden air out of the home through outlets in your roof soffit, while simultaneously drawing in fresh air from outside or from the roof cavity if the temperature is more desirable.  A heat exchanger is also included, capturing heat from outgoing air and using it to warm the fresh incoming air

What size of HRV do I need?

Every HRV installation is customised to suit the home it's going into. Your HRV expert will spell out the size and cost of your home ventilation system during your free home assessment visit.

Installing your HRV Classic home ventilation system

HRV Classic is designed for easy installation. Once we’ve measured and assessed your home, your custom-made system will be ready to install in a few weeks’ time. Your HRV expert will keep you updated on progress and arrange a time for installation. This usually takes just one day, but could be longer for large homes or more complex systems.

On the day, your installers will talk to you about where your control panel and ceiling vents will go, then once installation is complete they’ll show you how to set and operate your system.
